Reina’s Story

On the occasion of World Cancer Day on February 15th and throughout the month of February, we launched our FutureReina campaign starring our 8 year-old patient Reina.

Using the latest technologies in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning, we were able to predict how Reina will look like in the near future.

Aiming to give our dear Reina a glimpse into her future, the campaign showed Reina and her parents that there is a whole new world that is awaiting her.

But going back a few months earlier, Reina was introverted and not happy. So was her mom who comes with her to the center on a weekly basis for treatment. Reina and her mom used to sit alone and try to engage minimally with other patients and parents, and that is when our psychosocial specialists and Child Life Department stepped in. We all decided to make Reina the star of this campaign to empower her and make her realize that cancer is just a stage in her life and that a bright future awaits her.

The campaign was a huge success and Reina gained national recognition as a warrior and fighter.

Today after the campaign is over, Reina has become a different person, more receptive to people, stronger and more adamant to fight cancer. Following the huge impact on Reina, we worked with Republique creative agency and Robocom to create to the FutureMe App and give the chance to all our kids and their parents, to see their future selves with a 90% accuracy.

Reina is one of 300 patients at the canter today. She is an inspiration to all of us!
