Interview with Ms. Georgette Aoude
Marketing & Communications Team Leader
Quality Assurance Manager

1. Why did you choose CCCL or what path led you to CCCL?
I believe we don’t choose to work at CCCL but we are chosen to work at this blessed place. I started as a volunteer in administration at CCCL while I was working on my Master’s thesis, which focused on the effectiveness of NGOs in Lebanon. Then, after I graduated and started applying to jobs, I almost accepted a corporate offer when I got a call from the HR department at CCCL asking me to sit for a job interview. I didn’t have to think twice before deciding to join the team. I believe that this path was chosen for me, and I am so blessed to have been part of this family for almost 7 years now.

2. After few years, describe one of the best moments that you had at the center?
The best moment experienced at the center is when a child finishes their treatment successfully. With a big smile on their faces, a lot of appreciation in their eyes, and baklavas in their hands, celebrating with them their win against cancer brings a feeling that cannot be described. This is our source of motivation and ultimate happiness.

3. If you could change one aspect of your job, what would it be and why?
I would eliminate the sad moments we live at the center, when one of our heroes loses their fight against cancer, because as Danny Thomas said, “No child should die in the dawn of life.” If I had a magic wand, I would eliminate any pain the child goes through during their cancer treatment and make the cure success rate a guaranteed 100%.

4. Why do you continue to work at the CCCL?
A Center of Excellence and a Home of Hope; that is what CCCL is. Working here not only makes your life meaningful and gives a purpose to what you are doing in your career, it also evolves you on the professional level greatly. This center holds an ISO 9001:2015 certification and operates according to the highest standards of quality and professionalism. Therefore, from both emotional and rational perspectives, to me, CCCL is the best place to work.

5. What is the most rewarding part of being a CCCL team member?
Contributing to saving kids’ lives. There is nothing more rewarding than this!

6. If you would like to write one sentence about the center, what would it be?
Hundreds of heroes, thousands of survivors, brave parents, committed board members, devoted management, dedicated staff and medical team, this is who we are! Saving Lives, Celebrating Hope, this is what we proudly do. A Center of Excellence and Home of Hope, this is where we belong! All together #UnitedAgainstCancer.
