CCCL’s Annual Gala Dinner

The Children’s Cancer Center of Lebanon (CCCL) held its annual fundraising gala dinner “The Nutcracker- A Christmas Tale” this year at BIEL, on Saturday December 3, 2016, in a magical Christmas setting.

 

Considered as the most significant fundraiser organized by the center, this very exclusive event was attended by more than 700 of the country’s officials and influential figures, amongst which the representative of the Lebanese President General Michel Aoun, Minister Wael Abou Faour, representative of the Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri, Deputy Atef Majdalani, former Lebanese President Michel Sleiman and Mrs. Wafaa Sleiman, Mrs. Randa Berri, Mrs. Lama Tammam Salam, Former Prime Minister Fouad Al Siniora, Former First Lady Mona Hraoui, Deputy Minister and Defense Minister of Lebanon Samir Mokbel, Leader of the Progressive Socialist Party Walid Joumblatt, MP Robert Ghanem Minister of Telecommunication Boutros Harb. As well the presence of Former Ministers Raymond Audi and Ibrahim Najjar and Mohamad Khalife,  Gabriele Caccia, the Papal Ambassador to Lebanon and HRH Princess Ghida Talal and many other public figures, ambassadors and influencers.

 

The evening launched with a mesmerizing “The Nutcracker” ballet graciously performed by around 50 “Caracalla Dance School” students lead by Alissar Caracalla.

Mr. Ricardo Karam hosted the evening and shared with guests a very touching testimony about his personal experience at the center; with his son battling leukemia.

 

Mrs. Nora Joumblatt, CCCL Chair then gave her speech welcoming guests and thanking them for their loyalty and valued contributions to the center “ Since its inauguration in 2002  the center has treated, to date, more than 1,250 children with cancer with an 80% cure rate; and with around 4,000 consultations provided to patients referred from Lebanon and the region”.

 

She also shared with guests “that the center is now a reference center for more than 76 centers in more than 23 countries”; and announced that in celebration of CCCL’s 15th anniversary next year, “the center will launch the “Fountain of Wishes” designed by Mr. Makram Al Kadi at the Beirut Souks thanks to the support of Dr. Nasser Chamaa, founding Chair of the center”.

 

After her brief speech, and for the first time in Lebanon, the CCCL unveiled its most recent short documentary directed and produced by Mrs. Zoya Issa El Khoury which left guests overwhelmed with the center’s hopeful spirit and excellence in service.

 

During dinner, guests enjoyed the beautiful performance of  tenor Marc Reaidy and soprano Corine Metni; followed by a dazzling set by singer Cynthia Brown and grooves by DJ Mitri.
