On the occasion of World Health Day- April 7, the CCCL launched the CCCL HPV Vaccine Program which ensures access & coverage of the HPV vaccine to children in Lebanon and provides the needed awareness around HPV and its relation to cervical cancer.
Following the launch of the World Health Organization (WHO) “Global strategy to accelerate the elimination of cervical cancer as a public health problem” on November 17th, 2020;
The Children’s Cancer Center of Lebanon (CCCL), committed to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (UNSDG) SDG3 for health and wellbeing: is contributing to the WHO cervical cancer elimination targets by ensuring more girls & boys in Lebanon have access to the HPV vaccine by the age of 15.
The launching session organized by the CCCL included an awareness presentation about HPV and its relation to cervical cancer featuring Dr. Ghina Ghazeeri, Associate Profession of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Dr. Bassel Bachir, Assistant Professor of Urology, both from the American University of Beirut Medical Center.
Doctors highlighted the safety of the HPV vaccine which has no side effects and its importance in protecting against the human papillomavirus (HPV) which can cause cervical cancer in females and other cancers in males.
Childhood cancer survivors, members of the CCCL survivors club, Champions Circle, were invited to attend this session.
